During 2006 we made important progress. Our progress tracks well with our forecast; we have extended our original schedule only three months over the last year. The development environment for the creation of storyworlds, Swat, has already gone into beta testing, complete with the Story Engine and the Storyteller. In addition, the Dictionary (a base dictionary of about 60 general purpose verbs, which is intended primarily as a teaching tool for storybuilders) is also complete. In late December, Storyteller and the dictionary were taken out for a spin with a small group of story players. The testers' response was overall very positive. The experience was rated 7 out of 10 with 10 being a superlative experience.

We have many people to thank for this progress. Paulo Muppet and Luciana Eguti in Brazil have guided our artistic sensibilities, creating the look and feel of our website and guiding our graphical development. Jonathan Beyrak Lev in Israel has prepared excellent documentation, improved our website, and helped test the development environment. Louis Dargin in Detroit has provided important programming support, completing the verb tree functionality and and is now completing the programming necessary to put our software online.

We are also deeply indebted to our active and thoughtful bulletin board participants. Your questions stimulate our thinking, clarify our purpose, and help us improve the software. We are grateful for your participation. During the next six months we will complete beta testing of the storyworld development environment and publish two storyworlds (Chris's Balance of Power: 21st Century, and Laura Mixon's Casa Negra, a noir-ish caper set in the 1930s). Storybuilders will have full access to the Storyworld development environment in September 2007 and we expect to open our doors for business in January 2008, with publication of our first commercial storyworlds.
